More Powerball Tips

So you like playing Powerball. And why not? It’s exhilaratingly fun. You choose five numbers out of 45, and a sixth number for your Powerball, which will be drawn separately from 45 other numbers. That said, winning in Powerball isn’t easy. Your odds of winning five numbers and one Powerball in 12 games is 4,581,596 to 1. To improve your chances and increase your enjoyment of the game, here are a few Powerball tips:

Tip #1: Choose a mix of low and high numbers

A winning number combination composing of all high numbers or all low numbers is an uncommon occurrence, which is said to occur only around 3 per cent of the time. An ideal combination would be either three high numbers and two low numbers, or three low numbers and two low numbers. One of these combinations come out more than half the time.

Tip #2: Use a lottery number that won previously

Take note, try picking one number that won before, not all five. Why? It’s common that a number that was picked in a previous draw will be selected again. This is said to happen more than half the time.

Tip #3: Pick losing numbers

Pay attention to numbers that haven’t been picked for five, eight and ten games. Losing numbers for five games or less consist of half the winning numbers. Losing numbers for eight games or less is made up of two thirds of the winning numbers. For ten or less games, we’re looking at three fourths of the winning numbers.

Tip #4: Avoid picking on one number group

Don’t use up all your numbers from one number group (i.e. all 20s, 30s, single digits, etc.). The odds of those numbers winning are much slimmer.

Tip #5: Don’t base dates on your picks

Many Powerball players are said to use anniversaries and birth dates for their numbers. As a result, digits 1 to 31 are heavily used, bringing about multiple winners—if they do get to win at all. Since winning numbers are usually composed of both high and low numbers, using the calendar lowers your chances of winning.

If you’re going to use dates, make sure you include at least two high numbers to evenly distribute your picks and improve your chances.

Tip #6: Odds and evens

Avoid selecting all-even or all-odd numbers. The odds (pun intended) of these numbers winning are pretty slim.

Tip #7: Try getting help

When we say help,  we mean computer software. If you’re really going hardcore on your Powerball gaming, there are a number of software options out there that can be used to help you out with your picks. These software can help you keep track of previous winning numbers and analyse the chances of your numbers winning. Just be prepared to spend for these types of products.

Tip #8: Play the probabilities

Remember: Any choice that provides the best chance of winning occurs more often than the choice with the worst chances. This is why you need to play the probabilities. While each number has an equal chance of getting picked, you can improve your odds if you examine and use the numbers that win more frequently.
