Will following the Powerball results give you a better chance?
23 June 2008
Powerball results may not duplicate often, but does that mean that by keeping track of the Powerball results you will be able to improve your chances? Many theories abound about this aspect of Powerball game odds, but general probability theory quite clearly states that this should not have an effect on the likelihood of predicting the outcome.
Essentially, it all comes down to the fact that every Powerball draw is a new probability. Just as when you flip a coin there is a mostly equal chance each time at heads or tails, Powerball results have an equal chance of being any possible combination. The Powerball cannot even be picked by keeping track, as the probability of a particular number coming up is always the same, regardless of how many times it has happened before.
