Look Out for Powerball Scams
Monday October 20, 2008
You cannot win Powerball if you have not entered, so if you receive an unsolicited email saying the Powerball results have come out in your favour you could be the target of Powerball scams. Powerball scams will often tell you that you have won an incredibly large amount of money, likely in a foreign Powerball draw. You will be asked to set up a bank account and to transfer money to assist a funds transfer due to taxes or fees imposed by a foreign government. All of this will be false, an attempt to fleece you out of thousands of dollars.
If you encounter Powerball email scams, do not reply to them. Scammers will try to convince you of their legitimacy in case you can be convinced to trust them, so a reply of any kind will probably just goad them on. The Powerball entry fee and Powerball game odds do not allow for free and easy wins of massive prizes. The old adage is right: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Please use our online entry facilities to play Powerball online and be sure to come back Friday for the latest Powerball results.
